A Peek In The Studio

Hey folks! I'm currently dividing my time between new figurative work and landscapes inspired by recent trips to Europe. None of it is quite ready to share, so here are a few things you might find enjoyable, including a quick look in my studio, filmed a few days ago.

Musicians In A Havana Nightclub, Oil, 14x18"

In 2010, my husband and I traveled with a professional group that received permission to visit Cuba. The Cuban people live in sometimes dire circumstances, but their zest for life is untarnished. Music is everywhere, and this scene was typical in any Havana venue.

I don't know about you, but I find a rainy evening in the city visually fascinating. The wet pavement creates a giant mirror, illuminated by streetlights and headlights, inspiring this 2020 painting.

Head Study Of Jay, Oil, 11x14"

I painted Jay as a demo for my students at Visual Arts Center of Richmond way back in 2007. Bald models provide a great opportunity for painters to study the shape of the skull.
