An Icepack & Chinese Takeout featured Richmond Ballet dancer Benjamin Malone as my model. We used Ben's 1920's era apartment as the setting for this domestic scene. An earlier project with other dancers revealed the "off-hours" activities of the dancers, usually including nursing an injury. This knowledge fed the narrative for my painting.
The painting received 5th Honorable in the Portrait Society of America's Member Only Competition in the "Outside The Box" category in November 2015.
It was accepted into The Savvy Painter Online Competition at DailyBrushwork.com, November 2017.
The painting was part of my annual exhibition of new work, May 15-July 2, 2015.
