Marquis was an actor in local theatre production when I arranged an introduction from mutual friends. He modeled for my painting class at Visual Arts Center of Richmond in 2017 for this head study.
Artists like myself regularly paint simple head studies of models as a way to keep up our life painting skills. This is why I have countless head and shoulders paintings of models in my studio.
